Gnanam's Matrimony

The client was running a community matrimony service manually — receiving profile forms by hand, maintaining a spreadsheet, and connecting matches over phone calls. This was unscalable and created privacy concerns.

A full-featured matrimony platform where families create and manage detailed profiles, apply multi-criteria filters (age, height, location, profession, religion), and express interest — with the admin managing the matching and communication layer.

MERN stack (MongoDB, Express, React, Node.js). MongoDB's flexible document model was well-suited for highly variable profile data. JWT-based authentication protects all profile and messaging endpoints.

Tested profile creation, search filtering, and interest-expression flows end-to-end. Privacy was a priority — verified that no profile data was accessible without authentication and that users could only view approved profiles.

Frontend deployed to Vercel, backend API deployed to Render. Environment variables used for all sensitive configuration (JWT secret, MongoDB URI).

Community-specific software requires deep domain understanding. Several features had to be redesigned after feedback from actual users in the target community who had expectations from existing platforms.
