Peer Circles
Currently building a platform that connects learners to form study circles and share knowledge effectively.
01. The Problem
Self-directed learners often struggle to find accountability partners and study groups relevant to their specific topic and schedule. Existing platforms are either too broad (Reddit) or too formal (LMS tools).
02. The Solution
A focused peer-learning platform where users create or join topic-based study circles, set shared goals, schedule sessions, and share resources — all within a clean, distraction-free interface.
03. Architecture & Tech Decisions
Next.js App Router on the frontend with Supabase providing PostgreSQL database, realtime subscriptions, and Row Level Security for multi-tenant data isolation. TypeScript enforced throughout.
04. Testing Strategy
Type-safe API calls via Supabase's generated TypeScript client reduce runtime errors. Component-level tests written with React Testing Library for key interactive flows.
05. Deployment
Targeting Vercel for the Next.js frontend with Supabase cloud managing the database and auth. Currently in active development.
06. Lessons Learned
Working with Supabase RLS policies early in the schema design phase saves significant refactoring time. Defining policies alongside the tables is much cleaner than retrofitting them later.
